Duleepa reported the DL seminar held early this year:
Hi Patrick
Here is a brief description about the seminar we had last month.
----An IEEE technical seminar given by Dr. Ross M Green on Technology Lifecycle: The Long Road to an "Overnight Success" at the University of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand. The event was organised by the joint IES and IAS chapters (IEEE New Zealand North Section) and was sponsored by the IEEE New Zealand North Section. The event which was held on Friday the 26th of October 2012, was attended by about 40 guests
Note:
At least one more event is needed to keep IAS/IES active. Patrick proposed that Duleepa give an ECE research seminar jointly run by ECE and IEEE. Duleepa is also working on other options.

Duleepa reported the DL seminar held early this year:
On the invitation of the joint Industrial Electronics and Industrial Applications Chapter of IEEE New Zealand North Section, Prof. Okyay Kaynak, an IEEE Fellow and UNESCO Chair on Mechatronics from the Bogazici University, Turkey, visited New Zealand on an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer tour. An intriguing lecture entitled ¿Mechatronics in the 21st Century¿ was delivered by Prof. Kaynak on Wednesday the 8th of February 2012 at the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Auckland. The presentation was well received by more than 30 enthusiastic IEEE members, which included industry professional, university teaching staff and research students. During the seminar, he explained how Mechatronics has evolved over the last three decades and discussed the challenges that the engineers of the 21st century face. He concluded his presentation showing a few examples of the state-of-art reached in Mechatronics in the form of intelligent systems.

At least one more event is needed to keep IAS/IES active. Patrick proposed that Duleepa give an ECE research seminar jointly run by ECE and IEEE. Duleepa is also working on other options.
