Well coming back from a well deserved break due to so much stress so far in the semester, in all honesty I haven't done much thinking on MikesBikes or my group ideas. It is Friday today and it has finally hit me that i need to get out of holiday mode and start working hard again. I had a group meeting on Wednesday where we were able to discuss our previous rollover, analyzing where we went wrong, how we can improve and the steps needed to take in order to get where we need to be. The only thing positive thing was that we were able to come up with helpful ideas but frustrating at the same time because our CEO was not present. Our CEO has probably only attended half of our meetings which has been mentioned recently how irritating it is that we turn up with ideas but cannot pursue any without the confirmation from our CEO therefore making it very difficult for us as a team. I would say that is our only weakness, other than that as a team we all get along and are determined to get the best result possible in this task.
This weeks readings were interesting but had little relevance in relation to myself or my group however. Argyris (1991) explains the difficulties that can occur when trying to implement to importance of reflection and learning in the workplace. In my opinion what this means is that certain people can be a challenge when doing this obviously because everyone learns at a different pace and style. There are certain steps and processes needed in order to do this successfully. If i was to reflect on myself and my learning I would say that i need to practice and change my normal behaviors when it comes to learning so that I am able to get that most out of it. I need to reflect on my past failures/problems and learn to adapt so that i would not need to experience it again in terms of my studies because normally when i would not do so well as i had hoped, i don't reflect on where i went wrong and solve it. As a team member and as a student as a whole, I need to personally reflect on my behaviors so i can better myself for the future.
Finding out last night that our SHV for MikesBikes hugely declined had me thinking about ways i can make help change this especially being in charge of the marketing aspect for our business. I am hoping that next week we are able to come up with a new strategy in order to take on this problem that we are currently facing.
